Limestone Mantel with Scrolled Corbels and Shaped Opening

A reclaimed limestone fireplace mantel whose character comes from its outline rather than applied ornament. The molded shelf runs straight across a plain frieze, then curves down at each end into a long scrolled corbel that meets the jamb. The opening is shaped, with a molded edge that lifts gently toward the centre, and a low stepped stone hearth projects into the room. The limestone is bleached and finely pocked, with soft grey shadows in the hollows. Suited to a living room, family room, bedroom or custom residential project in a calm palette.
