Weathered Limestone Mantel with Rosette Medallion
Age is the whole argument for this reclaimed limestone fireplace mantel. A plain slab shelf sits on a broad frieze whose only carving is a single circular rosette medallion at the centre, worn almost flat. Below, a shallow segmental arch spans the opening, and square jambs step out at the shoulder. The stone is blotched grey, buff and white, with chips along the shelf edge and clear joint lines between sections. Shown between candle sconces in a tall room, it suits a living room, library, lodge or restoration where the mantel should look genuinely old.
