Limestone Mantel with Scrolling Vine Frieze and Urn Jambs

A frontal reclaimed limestone fireplace mantel with a recessed frieze panel carved in scrolling vine, open rosettes and a central palmette rising from a small urn. The cornice shelf is cleanly molded. Where the related acanthus console mantel in this collection uses sweeping fluted legs, this piece keeps its jambs flat and tapering, each carrying a single carved leaf and urn within a sunken panel at the shoulder. The limestone is cool grey and cloudy, resting on a matching stone hearth block. Suited to a living room, library, bedroom or careful period restoration.
